The Church of St. John the Baptist on the island of Vir was built somewhere between the 13th and 14th centuries. Earlier, before the construction of today's Parish Church of St. George, this small church actually had the function of a parish church. A cemetery was also built around it, so that today it is generally used as a cemetery church. Restoration and protection of the Church of St. John the Baptist, under the expert supervision of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, was carried out in the period from 1996 to 1998, when a so-called horsehair with a bell was added above the façade.
