Crkva koja je otvorena svim posjetiteljima utemeljena je još u 12 stoljeću kad je franjevački red došao u Pulu.
Gradnja je zadržala izvorni oblik iz 13. stoljeća, te povezuje samostan i crkvu, u njoj se i dalje održavaju liturgijske mise i središte je krščanskog života u Puli.

as a devout Catholic I could not pass up the chance to visit the church and monastery of St Francis. It is not excessive in its grandeur. I found the mosaic quite interesting coupled with the fact that the church was built on a previous cultic edifice site was intriguing. While it may not appeal to the young and restless, its a great serene monastery when you want to step away from the local tourist attractions.
