The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was most probably built in the 4th century when it represented an early Christian church, which was later redecorated in a romantic style.

The cathedral was consecrated by Pope Alexander III. in the 12th century. Also, the ciborium above the main altar combines different architectural styles, which gives the church great significance. The front of the canteen is decorated with a marble statue depicting St. Christopher walking through the water with a child on his shoulders.

This church is a real treasure trove of precious paintings, various relics and reliquaries, among which the skull of St. Christopher, the patron saint of Rab who saved the island and its inhabitants, and died a martyr's death.
