The area of Caska is very interesting archeologically, and recent excavations of the Roman settlement of Cissa have been carried out. According to legend, it was destroyed during an earthquake in the 4th century. The Stomorica Archaeological Collection preserves many objects and remains of sacral objects from the past of Novalja. In the 5th century, Novalja was the center of a diocese with three large basilicas. Remains of a floor mosaic in one of them can be seen inside the Gothic Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in the city center.
