This garden sits on the coastal slopes of Biokovo, at an altitude of 350 to 500 meters, and is a real small mountain oasis above the village of Kotišina. It is the work of Fr. Jure Radić, a Franciscan, but also a scientist, who founded the garden for the purpose of scientific research and preservation of the flora of Biokovo. Nevertheless, the garden is not designed to be as systematic as is usually the habit in botanical gardens, but serves as a fenced part of nature, where plants grow naturally and in their own way. Although the garden occupies only 16 hectares, it has various habitats, one of which is a home to the endemic Adriatic iris. Over three hundred wild plant species grow here, of both the Mediterranean and the mountain vegetation. Some sections of the terrain are rocky, and some are arable land. They are surrounded by paths with educational boards posted along the way. In the immediate vicinity of this garden is the fortress of Veliki Kaštel.
