Lively Zagreb is not only the capital and largest city of Croatia, but also the cultural, economic and political center of the country. It is located on the slopes of the beautiful hill Medvednica (Zagrebachka Gora) in the north and the floodplain of the Sava River in the south. The name "Zagreb" was first mentioned in 1094 when the Zagreb diocese of Kaptol was founded, and Zagreb became a free royal city in 1242, while the origin of the name remains a mystery despite several theories.Zagreb is a classic Central European city with clearly visible Austro-Hungarian, Viennese and Slavic influences. Prone to this, the Old Town of Zagreb consists of two medieval settlements on the hill: Grich, a civic settlement, which was renamed Gradec, and Kaptol, a church settlement, which was established in the 16th century. These two cities continued as rival entities until the 19th century, when it was joined by a series of new buildings and extended south to the floodplain of the Sava, with a rectilinear new city of squares and public buildings.Zagreb, as the capital of the country, offers something for everyone. Numerous restaurants, lively cafes, landscaped parks, a rich cultural and artistic scene and beautiful architecture are just some of the factors that make Zagreb a special place to visit and live.

During my trip in Zagreb, I walked through the narrow alleyways in the city. Enjoying the evening flicker of vintage scenes made my trip memorable. A perfect place for couples to rekindle their love.

The charming scenery of Zagreb with trees such as chestnut create lovely shades for romantic evenings. This was the best place for my husband and I to celebrate our anniversary.
