This area has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and in Roman times. The beginning of Svetvinchenat is connected with the Benedictine monastery from Ravenna, in the area of the church of St. Vincent in the cemetery, and the first smaller settlement was formed next to it. It is mentioned independently in 983 as the property of the bishop of Porech.
Today, the renaissance town of Svetvinchenat is one of the Istrian gems with a rich tourist offer and numerous events that take place in the attractive historical spaces of this town. This special town with a rich tradition, with its interesting and diverse programs, the most prominent of which are the Medieval Festival, the Cheese Festival and the Festival of Dance and Non-Verbal Theater, attracts many visitors every year.
