The history of Split is very extensive to fit in a few sentences. Although there were Greek settlements in the area of Split before, its first inhabitant and founder of Split should still be considered the famous Emperor Diocletian, who was on a peninsula near the big city of Salona in 293. after Christ and began to build a lavish imperial palace of about 30,000 square feet, into which he retired after ten years of construction when he left the Roman imperial throne. The turbulent centuries after that created a city conceived when the inhabitants of Salona fled towards the Palace before the onslaught of the Avars and Slavs. Many authorities then took turns in the city that grew outside the walls of the palace. Modern times and the 20th century "moved" Split "from the Kingdom of Yugoslavia", through the tragic but also heroic days of Italian and German occupation in the Second World War when Split was one of the centers of anti-fascist resistance, to socialist Yugoslavia, to the present day. life in a free and independent Croatia, a member of the European Union.Today, wandering the historic center of Split you can still clearly see the ancient Roman walls, squares and temples. Also, the great Old Town of Split is under UNESCO protection and is listed as a World Heritage Site. These 1,700 years of Split's history have kept alive millions who have enjoyed this magnificent living city as it was, as it is now and as it will always be.

For art lovers, the Marmontova Street is the perfect tourist destination. This street has numerous art galleries. I was amazed with how they had blended in ancient and modern pieces of art. It was so beautiful.

I visited the beautiful beaches in this location during my summer vacation; Bacviche, Kasjuni, and Stobrech. I particularly loved the Stobrech beach since it was sparsely populated, had shallow waters, and nearby eateries. I enjoyed my experience and will visit again with my family.

I loved hiking through Marjan Hill near the City center. First, the view of the city from the top of the hill is beautiful and it was great exercise activity for me even as I took time from work. The location has vast vegetation which I also enjoyed exploring and will visit again soon.
