Pićan je bio naseljen još u rano prapovijesno doba. Najstariji dijelovi utvrđenog grada na brdu, plemena Histri nalazili su se na brdu Kalvarija, sjeverno od modernog grada. Nakon toga grad je vjerojatno naselilo keltsko pleme Secusa. U rimsko doba, vjerojatno na istom strateški važnom mjestu, bilo je vojno uporište i naselje Petina.Neki su autori grad Pićan povezali s imenom Pucinium, koje Plinije i Ptolomej spominju kao ime utvrde u središnjoj Istri, poznate po izvrsnom vinu čak i na Rimskom dvoru. Livia, supruga cara Augusta, vjerovala je da se njezina dugovječnost pripisuje činjenici da će piti upravo samo ovo vino, a u to se možete uvjeriti i danas kušajući lokalna vrhunska vina.

Angelica
A tour around the place led us to some of the amazing places that hide within the island. We went for the bike ride that was refreshing and got to see the streets and the landmarks that occur at the place. It was fascinating and remarkable to have the experience.

The historical sites at Pican are wonderful with the churches that we were amazed with and had a perfect time having a little prayer that was comforting and uplifting spiritually.
