Pican war bereits in prähistorischer Zeit besiedelt. Die ältesten Teile der befestigten Stadt auf dem Hügel, der Stamm der Histri befand sich auf dem Hügel von Kalvarija, im nördlichen Teil der modernen Stadt. In römischer Zeit befand sich an dieser strategisch wichtigen Stelle wahrscheinlich eine militärische Festung und die Siedlung Petina.Einige Autoren haben die Stadt Pićan mit dem Namen Pucinium in Verbindung gebracht, der von Plinius und Ptolemäus als Name einer Festung in Mittelistrien erwähnt wird, die sogar am römischen Hof für ihren hervorragenden Wein bekannt war. Livia, die Frau von Kaiser Augustus, glaubte, dass ihre Langlebigkeit darauf zurückzuführen war, dass sie nur diesen Wein trank, und das kann man auch heute noch bei der Verkostung der erstklassigen lokalen Weine feststellen.

Angelica
A tour around the place led us to some of the amazing places that hide within the island. We went for the bike ride that was refreshing and got to see the streets and the landmarks that occur at the place. It was fascinating and remarkable to have the experience.
