Mjesto Murter najveće je naselje na istoimenom otoku. Ostaci antičkog naselja Colentum na brdu Gradina svjedoče o dugoj povijesti ovoga mjesta. Prvi spomen Murtera je sredinom 13. stoljeća pod nazivom Villa Magna, što znači veliko selo. Kasnije se mjesto zvalo i Srimač, a od početka 18. stoljeća ima sadašnje ime. Murter ima čak 2700 sunčanih sati godišnje. Obala je vrlo razvedena, a plaže u mjestu nadaleko su poznate po ljepoti i čistom moru. Tu je i mnoštvo skrivenih uvala, do kojih se najlakše dolazi brodom. Na udaljenosti od desetak nautičkih milja od Murtera smješten je Nacionalni park Kornati. Nacionalni park Kornati sastoji od niza otoka i morskog ekosustava oko njih, koji su zaštićeni zbog kulturnih i prirodnih posebnosti. Tijekom ljeta održavaju se brojne manifestacije kojima je cilj upoznati goste s tradicionalnom kuhinjom i nekadašnjim načinom života na otoku.

The remains of the ancient settlement of Colentum are some of the sights to behold while here,it served a good spot to take pictures for memories. We went for boat riding towards the coves which are still well kept. I attended an event where we, visitors were being introduced to the traditional cuisines on the Island, the locals were friendly.

What i loved most about this Island is the long hours of sunshine, in the morning and evening the magnificent rays of the sun dazzle in the clear. It is an awesome experience to watch the colour due to the rays of the sun. The marine ecosystem is a must see when one tours this Island.

I got to learn about the rich history behind the island and also the cultural heritage of the locals. I visited the place during the summer holidays and got to interact with the kind and friendly locals and also had a taste of their traditional cuisines, very tasty. I made new friends here.

Thanks to the amazing tour guide assigned to us who made our boat ride experience to the hidden coves exciting.The greenery there amplified the beauty of the place, we camped near the shore and the breeze was calming. Our privacy was guaranteed because of its location.

The long hours of sunshine was spectacular which keeps the activities running both during the day and the evening. We had a romantic dinner in one of the restaurants and the food was very tasty and delicious. It's a must visit place for me.
