Traveling along the Adriatic coast, south of Senj, you come to Karlobag. Once a Roman colony built as an important traffic port it was called Vagium, Skrisia and Bigi-Bag. In 1525, the Turks completely destroyed it by burning it to the ground. Duke Charles had it rebuilt and so the city got its name. Karlobag can be reached from Gospich, via Bashke Oshtarije. It is an unavoidable tourist destination and an opportunity to take a break from a long journey. Due to its Mediterranean climate and the combination of sea and mountains, it is the best way to experience the summer heat and freshness of the Velebit hinterland, all in one day.

I always love coming to Karlobag for my vacation. The beaches here are clean, spacious, and have cute sunshades and sunbeds. The sandy beaches are just perfect for swimming and basking. This town is just paradisical.

The music concerts in Karlobag are something else. The outdoors ones playing electronic and trance music are the best. My friends and I had lots of fun partying here. We look forward to the next trip.

The views in this town are just spectacular. I climbed the observational decks and towers to admire the lush surroundings and magical waters. This town is very relaxing and I loved it!

The Mediterranean Climate favoured us during our stay here, it was pleasant and friendly to us. The view of the sea is magnificent especially when the sun rays dazzle on it. Will come back to this place for the sunrise and sunset photos, i miss them.

We were here during the summer season and were delighted to learn the great interesting history about this place. Of interest was the Turks who completely destroyed this place by burning it down. Ideal place for historians.

It was exciting to go for mountain climbing in the mountain surrounding Karlobag with my friends with the help of the tour guides. The views from the top of mountain were panoramic and the mountains gave us the best experience of the summer heat. This town was a haven.
