The first beautiful thing is the structures found in this location coupled with the beautiful old olive trees surrounding the village itself. I however found the highlight of the visit to be the chance to taste the locally made olive oil, something that leaves an nice taste on you.

This place was the home of homemade olive oil. There was a big olive oil plant which I visited. I learned how the oil was made. The people there were friendly and helpful. I was given a jar of oil for free after I bought 2 jars. My wife would be delighted to have the oil as a gift.

I tasted the local homemade olive oils that are in a variety and even bought some to take back home. I took a stroll along the narrow streets that helped me refresh mind and relieve it from my busy scheduled mind. The rich flower beds and the stones houses are also therapeutic.

If you appreciate art this is a place worth visiting, it has a rich historical background that stems from the time of feudal lords. The main attraction however according to me, would be the paintings made by Antun of Padua in the churches in Istrian countryside.

The oldest church at this place stood by itself in a well maintained compound. The doors were still in place though the hinges had to be greased to make them open with ease. The statue in the church was still in place and the benches well maintained. I loved being here.

We toured the church of St Roka which is painted in a design that is impress in the opuses of the sacred art in the churches. We also learnt of the rich great history about this destination including of the narrative about the miracle that prompted building a church on top of Padua that was covered in snow. Ideal destination for history lovers.

A rare sight for one to actually see is the church with an inscription with an interesting fact, next to it a linden tree the oldest existing one in Istria, it is a place rich in history and a nice place to visit to learn something interesting.

We had a chance to visit the place where the oldest tree at this place stood. It was near the church and it had a hollow branch. It was believed to have been here for the longest time. I plucked some leaves to take home and show my friends.

As a historian, i was fascinated to see lots of archaeological remains such as frescoes and Glagolitic inscriptions. I also learnt that church of St Matthew was built next to a large linden tree which is evident upto date. I was lucky to take a photo near the linden tree.

It is a place rich in history, the best thing about the place is the local people living here who are willing to share a bit of their history and culture. It is one of the last coal mines in Croatia and it is just interesting to know how it came to be, a thrill for any historian.
