The town of Rab is a typical medieval urban center surrounded by solid walls that for the most part still surround it in its original state. Its old town is dominated by four high bell towers mostly in Romanesque style. Previously, Rab was a Roman settlement to which Emperor Octavian Augustus gave the status of a city and declared it a municipality in 10 BC.

The city walls built in the 15th century to strengthen the city fortress, these two towers are located on the site of earlier medieval walls built in the 12th or 13th century.

Right next to the city walls there is a beautiful park Komrchar at the foot of which is a long promenade and swimming pool sheltered in the shade of centuries-old dense pine trees.
