This church in the village Okljuchna north of Komizha was built at the beginning of the 18th century, on the then estate of Frano Viskovich, to serve as a family chapel for private worship. He built the chapel on his estate that had been given to him by the Venetians as payment for his service in the war against the Turks.

The records tell us that the date of completion of this little stone church was July 8 1714, and that it was blessed by the then pastor of Komizha, Andrija Kuljish.

While this church is not in use it remains a monument and a part of the charming landscape of the island of Vis, made of valleys and small hillsides adorned with old stone houses peering out between the Mediterranean vegetation.
