Our Lady of the Angels is a monastery located near Orebich, the largest city on the Peljesac peninsula,
The monastery was built in the late 16th century under the Republic of Dubrovnik, it was built by the Franciscans and is a recognizable Gothic-Renaissance style
The monastery is surrounded by a dense and fragrant pine forest, and is located on a rocky reef as far as 152 meters above sea level. It offers a panoramic view of the east, south and west over the Korcula and Peljeshac sea canals with the old town of Korcula in the background.
Sailors passing under the monastery would traditionally greet him with three calls to their ship’s sirens, and then the Franciscans would answer with their church bells which then produced a great sound. The sound of church bells could be heard all over the sea channel.
