Hrvatsko narodno kazalište u Varaždinu
Gradska općina Varaždin 1869. godine odlučila je vlastitim novcem sagraditi novu, moderno opremljenu kazališnu zgradu. Sljedeće godine izrađen je građevinski program i raspisan natječaj u kojem je prva nagrada pripala mladom bečkom arhitektu Hermannu Helmeru. Prema zahtjevima natječaja, Helmer je projektirao zgradu južno od starog grada, pod čijim će se krovom nalaziti razni sadržaji: uz kazalište, zgrada će imati i koncertnu dvoranu, restoran i kafić, čitaonicu i nekoliko stanova.
Helmer je dizajnirao vanjski dizajn prema principu strukturne iskrenosti s jasno vidljivom trodijelnom kompozicijom prostora (dvorana - komunikacije - dvorana). Fasadni plašt ukrašen je neorenesansnim obilježjima tako da se glavno pročelje ne ističe posebno u odnosu na preostala tri, zbog višenamjenske prirode građevine i namjere da zbog istaknutog pogleda okoliš ostane nerazvijen.

The classical theadre are important for drama activities. During my visit I enjoyed the igniting performances that were done. A great arena.

Croatian national theadre is a magical arena. It is spacious enogh. We were many and we fitted well.
