Nova Vas is about 6 km away from the Istrian tourist center, Porec, and is an ideal destination for guests looking for a vacation away from the sea and the hustle and bustle of noisy beaches. The area of Nova Vas was inhabited in prehistoric and ancient times, but as a formed place it was founded in 1535.In Nova Vas you can see the most famous pit in this area. Baredine Cave has been visited since ancient times, and the first documented research dates back to the beginning of the last century by Trieste speleologists when it was explored to a depth of 80 meters. Due to its uniqueness, it has also been declared a natural monument. At the beginning of the 1990s, concrete works began on its arrangement for the public, so since 1995 it has been open for tourist visits. In the next few years, the infrastructure was arranged, which created the conditions for a better stay of visitors in and around the pit.The features and peculiarities of the Istrian interior are beautiful landscapes suitable for sports tourism, so we especially recommend Nova vas to lovers of cycling, walking, staying in nature and speleology. If you like sightseeing and exploring, feel free to take the roads and macadam paths inland, and look for refreshments after a ride or walk in the local Istrian taverns. There you will find friendly and hospitable people, homemade wine and delicious traditional food.
