Desinic
Desinich is a small village on the picturesque green hills of Hrvatsko Zagorje. The first mention of the village is found in documents from the 14th century, and it is mentioned under the name 'Ecclesia sancti Gheorgii de Zothla' as the seat of the Roman Catholic parish of St. George. The name 'Desinje' is also found in old documents. The history of the village is related to the castle Veliki Tabor, which had many famous owners over the centuries - the Counts of Celje, Counts Rattkay, and the great Croatian painter Oton Ivekovic. The owners of castles throughout history have been the owners of this whole area.Today, Desinic is a popular tourist destination, widely known for its beautiful castle Veliki Tabor.
