The Grebastica rampart, or locally popularly called the Croatian Great Wall of China, is located on the smaller Oštrica peninsula. The rampart with walls was built in 1497 as a defensive fortress in the fight against the Turks. After its defensive function, the complex was given a whole new role in the 17th century. Namely, it served as a quarantine for plague sufferers. Later, the locals of Grebastica used the walls as a shelter from terrible pirate attacks. After that, the entire fortification system actually completely lost its importance and was neglected. Today, the complex is a recognizable symbol of the place, and animals - muffins - have found a home here.
