The city of Umag has experienced its turbulent moments throughout history, so most of its medieval and ancient buildings were destroyed. What is visible today is actually mostly from the later Middle Ages. Numerous remains from the mentioned period are visible in the town of Umag - beautiful Venetian villas, picturesque streets and remains of walls. The best preserved building, and at the same time the oldest, is the western tower in which the Museum of the City of Umag is located today. Valuable collections of all archeological finds and remains found at various locations are kept here.
