Not far from Marija Bistrica, on the road to Zlatar Bistrica, a park hidden from view, is this beautiful castle where the Hellenbach family lives. It is one of the few castles in Hrvatsko Zagorje and Croatia where the continuity of life has been maintained and the interior completely preserved. as it was in the last century.
The park around the castle was created after the construction of the castle, around the middle of the 19th century. The classicist conception is recognized by the symmetrical composition of the park space. Marija Bistrica was owned around 1786 by Count Petar Sermage. Through marriage, the estate became the property of Counts Keglevich, and then Counts Jelachich de Bužim. In 1851, with the marriage of Baron Lazar Hellenbach and Klotilda Jelachich, Marija Bistrica became the property of Baron Hellenbach, whose family still lives in the castle. The castle is now privately owned.
