The exact date of construction of this beautiful building is unfortunately unknown today, but we know that it was dedicated back in 1487. An inscription at the intersection of the entrance to the church reveals that it was restored in 1750. In the church are especially valuable late Baroque carved wooden benches and many votive gifts hung on the wall, and significant for the history of maritime affairs in Rovinj. An inscription on the floor tombstone indicates that Countess Elisabetta Angelini-Califfi, celebrated as the ‘mother of the poor’, was buried here on 13 December 1762.
