PORTA MERIDIONALIS is their Roman name. Like a door that - according to some assumptions about the original appearance of the southern facade of Diocletian's Palace - was mourned by the sea, they are completely different from the other three. Basements overlook the sea.
In addition to the Renaissance name Aenea-Mjedena, they also bore the attribute Security, as they ensured escape by sea in the event of an attack on the palace from the land. With a partial restoration, the authentic door blocks point to surprised visitors with almost two millennia of water resistance. Today, they have become "the" main because tourists through them usually start expert tours with local guides, and through the Cellars reach the central part of the Palace.
