Until the middle of the 19th century, the town of Pag was surrounded by large solid walls that also had their own massive stone defensive towers. There were several city gates, and the largest of them, under the name Porta Marina, is still preserved today in its original form.
Skrivanat Tower together with its part of the city walls is the best visible preserved remnant of the defense system of the city of Pag and during the summer months, it is where various events and entertainment events are held.
