Petka is the name for a series of two hills and a protected park-forest above the Dubrovnik city area and the Lapad peninsula.
Historical sources as far back as 1296 mention Friday as Mons Acutus - a name of Roman origin, which means sharp point, with the remains of the temple of the goddess Venus on top of it. In the 15th century, and possibly even earlier, on the site of the ruined temple stood the church of St. Friday, after which it was named. Friday is a favorite promenade destination for tourists and locals, where you can connect with nature and get away from the city noise and hectic life.
