Vela Spila is an archeological site in a cave above the town of Vela Luka. The cave expands to 50 x 40 m and stands at a height of 20 m, while the entrance is about 8 m wide. There are two openings on the cave ceiling that allow enough daylight The cave has been intensively explored for fifty years, during which a considerable amount of diverse archaeological material has been discovered to a depth of 10.6 m.
