Another one of historical curiosities to see around Novalja is the Tunera Tower. Standing proud on Caska beach since 1888, when it was built by the family Palchich, it served as a watchtower for keeping track of the movement of the tuna fish, important since tuna fishing was a lucrative business in Caska till the 1960s.
What sets it apart from all other towers with the same purpose on the Croatian coast is that fact that it’s the only one made of stone, which is probably the reason why it has survived into the 21st century. As such it remains a beloved symbol of Caska.
