The park, which was built from 1940 to 1953, is today home to many statues and monuments, the most prominent being the monument to fallen soldiers in World War II and the then national leader Comrade Tito. The last renovation was in 2013 on the anniversary of Istria's annexation of Croatia and benches adorned with landscaped gardens and pine trees.
