The Maritime Museum was founded in 1941 and is located in the fortress of St. John on the amazing Dubrovnik city walls. In collection it has more than 4000 items, among others, ship models from the 17th, 18th. and the 19th century. The museum has a valuable library with many collections of rare books and other important archival material, such as data on maritime insurance, which the Republic of Dubrovnik used among the first countries in the world. For all lovers of history and nautic, this place is a real gem.
