The Blaca Desert is special in so many ways that suffice it to say that you will not find anything similar either near or far. It spreads over fifty-six hectares, between Dragovod and Blaca Bay. It is considered a desert because of the sparse nature that surrounds the lovely monastery. The Blaca Desert has been home to many generations of monks since the seventeenth century. At one time in history this was the main school attended by students from small villages nearby. The monastery houses the second largest telescope in Europe, which has not been used for years. Today, this is one of the most popular hiking destinations and sightseeing valuable pictures.
