Town Funtana got its name from these water springs, located right by the sea. These springs of fresh water were used not only by the inhabitants of Funtana, but also by the inhabitants of the wider area, so this place was very important. Ships that sailed along the Istrian coast were also supplied with water here, and long ago in history, Roman villas in the vicinity of Porec were supplied from these springs.
