The Lipa Remembrance Memorial Center was founded and opened to the public in April 2015 in Lipa, a picturesque place only 27 kilometers from Rijeka. The center is dedicated to the suffering of April 30, 1944, when, in just a few hours, Lipa lost 269 of its inhabitants (mostly the elderly, women and children) by the Nazis and fascists. The attractive and contemporary museum exhibition interprets the memorial heritage from the time of the Second World War, but also the entire cultural-historical and ethnographic heritage of the Karst in the period from prehistory to the present day. In the sum of heritage characteristics, the suffering of April 30, 1944 is seen in a broader context, as one in a series of determinants of the identity of the vital community of Lipjan.
