The royal town of Knin is the largest settlement at the foot of the Dinara and is also the main starting point for climbing to the top. The only road that climbs high to the heart of the mountain begins in Guge, a suburb of Knin. Suvo continues with several paved bifurcations, which can be reached only by off-road vehicles or if it is Nordic walking.Who wants to reach the Dinara on foot, can go to the mountain lodge Brezovac, and then it takes another two and a half hours to climb to the top.
There is a possibility of starting the ascent from the village of Glavas near Kiev, but this ascent takes five hours. Above Glavas there is an old picturesque fortress and a mountain shelter Martinova Košara halfway to the top. The latter is housed in a former summer shepherd's hut.
