The Cloister Garden of the Gothic-Renaissance monastery is one of the few remaining Cloister Gardens in the Dubrovnik area.
The current plantations were arranged during the second half of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century. The access and front, and the system of gardens within Maximilian's castle were designed in the spirit of the Mediterranean tradition and executed in a formal, geometric way. As for garden plants, in addition to the traditional ones, some types of exotic plants were also used.
Among the remains of the stone steps stands a monumental staircase between the highest and the lowest (also the largest) garden terrace, with the central motif of a star made of boxwood, in the middle of which was Maximilian's bust, now in the Dubrovnik Museum.
