Barkajoli are a symbol of the city of Zadar. Their task is to connect the mainland with the old town of Zadar, that is, to transport passengers from one end to the other. Most often, this job is transferred from line to line, ie from father to son. Distances exceeding 67 meters, and sailing takes just under 2 minutes. Only when the Barkajoli do not drive is it exceptional if the sea is hit by a hurricane. This tradition is more than 600 years old.
