At the top of the hill Bandira on the second largest Vir peak at 112 meters above sea level are the remains of hillforts, then the hillfort in the northern part of the island, and the remains of the medieval church of St. George on Bandira, St. Nicholas and St. George on the site of the current parish church of St. George from 12 and the 13th century and the old parish church of St. John from the 13th and 14th centuries. The current parish church of St. George was built in 1845 on the foundations of the older church of the same name. Next to the church is a stone bell tower built in 1937 and 1938, which was demolished in World War II, and was restored in 1959.
