The remains say unequivocally: Nin has been a strong maritime and trade center and an important port on the eastern coast of the Adriatic since the 9th century BC. It was founded by the Illyrian tribe Liburni under the name of Aenona, which played an important commercial role. The Ancient port of old Nin is one of the largest and richest port areas from that time in the eastern Adriatic. At low tide, the remains of breakwaters and ancient walls from the 1st century BC can be seen on Cape Kremenjaсрa next to the local tourist area of Zaton Holiday Resort.
