Ilocki Podrumi Winery is located in Ilok, in the very east of Croatia. Grapes have been grown in this area since the Illyrian era. After the arrival of the Romans, Emperor Probus confirmed this area as ideal for winemaking and viticulture, and the first vineyards were created. The history of the winery itself begins in 1697 when the Odescalchi family gets Ilok in possession. The first owner, Livio Odescalchi, built vineyards and a cellar. The family held this estate until 1945. In the 19th century, they built a summer house and a country estate. Throughout this period they were actively involved in viticulture and winemaking. The modern stage of development of Ilocki Podrumi began in 1970 with the construction of a new cellar. In 2003, the company was privatized and became a joint-stock company. Since then, the vineyards, the cellar, the summer house and the whole estate have been renovated and become a unique oenological and gastronomic tourist destination. Ilocki Podrumi produces four million liters of wine a year, which makes it one of the largest Croatian wineries. They produce Grasevina, Traminer, Rhine Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc from white varieties. From black, Cabernet Sauvignon and Frankovka. In addition to the winery, the estate has a tasting room, accommodation apartments and a restaurant.
