Also known as the Chapel of St. Florian, the church dedicated to the patron saint of firefighters was built on the site of a formerly existing wooden church (built in 1672), possibly as a votive church during the period when the town of Varazhdin was plagued by constant fires.

The construction commenced in 1733, and while bricks were used in construction, the church’s bell tower was made of wood. In the last decades of the 18th century the church underwent a renovation, with a new crypt built in 1773 and a new sacristy in 1775. The new facade lavishly adorned with decorations, sculptures and pilasters was added two years later, completing the look the church has retained to this very day.

There are three altars inside the church: the main one of St. Florian, made in 1740, and the altars of St. Apollonia and St. Lucia respectively that serve as side altars. The interior of the church was once decorated with wall paintings in the Baroque style that have since been repainted with the artworks of the later eras.
