Ribnjak Park in Zagreb definitely holds the title of the most beautiful Upper Town Park that stretches along the stone eastern walls of Kaptol, behind the magnificent Zagreb Cathedral.
It was cultivated and built in 1830 by the Bishop of Zagreb, Aleksandar Alagović. The idea was to make the Pond a sculpture park, but that plan was never finalized.
The park was named after the ponds in the area. Unfortunately, the park has been reduced due to urbanization and its ponds that have been removed. The last pond dried up in 1870 to enter Joseph Lang Square. This place is great for an escape from the hectic everyday life of Zagreb, and you can enjoy beautiful walks and refresh yourself in the nearby Art Park.
