Kaštel u Humu se prvi puta spominje početkom 12. stoljeća. Nalazio se na mjestu gdje je danas crkva Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije. To je najviša uzvisina pa je s te točke bilo lako kontrolirati okolni prostor. Kaštel je bio pravokutnog oblika, povezan dvjema ulicama s dvojim gradskim vratima. Osnovna namjena mu je bila obrambena. Često je razaran i obnavljan, a u vrijeme Uskočkog rata (1612.-1618.) je čitav grad spaljen te kaštel više nije obnavljan. Kamenje je iskorišteno za gradnju novih kuća.

It was great learning the history of the hum castle. I was thrilled to learn that the place is the origin of the slavic alphabet. A place with great history.

I am very glad that I visited such a significant place for the Slavs. I could not enter the temple when we were there, it was closed. But even walking nearby was interesting
