Grad Kastav smješten na stjenovitoj uzvisini nad morem u svojoj strukturi sadrži nekoliko značajnih gradskih trgova, koji kao mjesta okupljanja predstavljaju izuzetno bitne javne prostore od kojih se svaki formirao na specifičan način. Kastavske zidine jedan su od najcjelovitije očuvanih kompleksa gradskih bedema s kraja 15. i početka 16. stoljeća i vrijedan spomenik fortifikacijske arhitekture Hrvatske. Sustav zidina građen je kao „utvrda u utvrdi“ čiji vanjski dio čini obrambeni zid oko cijelog naselja, a unutarnji utvrda oko župne crkve. Zidine, čiji opseg iznosi oko 750 m, zatvaraju površinu nepravilnog oblika, veličine oko 27.000 m². Sačuvano je šest od nekadašnjih sedam kula u vanjskom bedemu te tri kule koje definiraju plato s crkvom sv. Jelene Križarice.

A great place if you want to stay near Rijeka for a longer period. A beautiful small town, with a wonderful sea view, and very close by car to all places
