Turkalj Cheese Factory
Turkalj Cheese Factory is located in Rakovica near Plitvice Lakes. It is run by the Turkalj family, which has had the status of a top cheese producer for years. They started with only seven cows, and today they have about fifty. There several types of cheese made in the factory: cottage cheese, white cheese made from boiled milk with spices, Skripavac... In addition to cheese, Turkalj Cheese Factory also produces traditional Lika 'basa' (sour milk). Their cheeses have won national and international awards. Cheeses can be tasted and bought on the farm.
