Die Festung Tureta ist eine spätantike quadratische Festung auf der Insel Kornati. Sie liegt auf einem Hügel, so dass die Schifffahrt durch den gesamten Kornatenkanal von hier aus überwacht werden konnte. Sie ist die einzige erhaltene Festung aus dieser Zeit in der gesamten Adria, wahrscheinlich weil sie außerhalb der Siedlung liegt und das Material im Laufe der Jahrhunderte nicht für den Bau anderer Gebäude verwendet wurde. Heute ist sie in einem Zustand der Vernachlässigung. Darunter befindet sich die Kirche St. Maria, die wahrscheinlich zur gleichen Zeit wie die Festung errichtet wurde.

The fortress was built to ensure marine traffic is controlled. A good fortress I like.

I had an amazing time visiting this fortress. I enjoyed swimming in the clean blue waters. The beauty of its ruins just stands out.

The walls were very beautiful. The inside was great for creative photography. We also enjoyed the sight seeing the water body nearby.

Hiking to the top of the hill was an epic experience. Seeing different kindof vegetation was therapeutic and the view from the top was amazing

We went swimming downhill and went hiking uphill with my friends and it was amazing. The view of the landscape at the top of the hill is beautiful.

This historic fortress is quite ancient. I was really pleased to see its surrounding. The blue ocean was just nice to see. Trekking to the fortress was epic.
