Sie liegt außerhalb der Stadtmauern und wurde gebaut, um die Stadt Dubrovnik vor venezianischen Angriffen zu schützen und generell den Meereszugang zur Stadt zu sichern. Heute ist diese Festung berühmt, weil in den Sommermonaten im Rahmen der Dubrovniker Sommerfestspiele zahlreiche Aufführungen stattfinden, von denen Shakespeares Hamlet die bekannteste ist. Mit ihrer steinernen und soliden Struktur wird sie noch weit in die Zukunft hinein stolz sein.

This fortress caught my eyes from the outside. Its ancient architectural design and structure is just mesmerizing. It is still in good condition despite it being over a century old. The view of Adriatic sea was fantastic.Touring this place was a magical experience.

while the fortress is a beautiful strong structure, what I enjoyed most was the festival held at the fortress. It was great. a mix of tradition culture and modern performances were the highlight of my stay. I will definitely love to tour this place again
