Sie liegt außerhalb der Stadtmauern und wurde gebaut, um die Stadt Dubrovnik vor venezianischen Angriffen zu schützen und generell den Meereszugang zur Stadt zu sichern. Heute ist diese Festung berühmt, weil in den Sommermonaten im Rahmen der Dubrovniker Sommerfestspiele zahlreiche Aufführungen stattfinden, von denen Shakespeares Hamlet die bekannteste ist. Mit ihrer steinernen und soliden Struktur wird sie noch weit in die Zukunft hinein stolz sein.

I had a great time at Lovrijenac.I was honoured to witness the exquisite performances done during the summer festival. The fortress is rich in history especially learning that it was built to protect the sea from being attacked by Venetians. I loved the panoramic view of the dazzling sea and the old town.The Fortress is a wonderful place and a must see for everyone.

Thrilling experience on our visit to the fortress for the organised festival with live performances. We enjoyed the people that we interacted with and were amazed to meet new people and make new friends. The history of the fort is catchy and we loved getting to learn the amazing things about the place. I was well geared as i toured the fort and witness the wonderful along with the help of a guide. It was magical tour and would love to visit again.

I had a great time at Lovrijenac. It was so cool to visit the location and learn about the history there too. Interested in visiting, Just make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Funny enough as old as it is, it is in great condition, fantastic preservation techniques. it also has a good history behind it and the walk inside was lovely,
