In der Bucht von Sepen, in der Nähe von Omisalj, befinden sich die Überreste von Fulfinium, einer Stadt der Veteranen der römischen Armee, die im 1. Jahrhundert nach Christus gegründet wurde.

Am Rande dieser antiken Stadt wurde im 5. Jahrhundert ein imposanter frühchristlicher Komplex (Mirine) errichtet.

Es ist nicht bekannt, wann und wie die große Zivilisation von Fulfinium zur Ruhe kam, aber man nimmt an, dass die unsichere Lage an der Küste dazu beitrug. Zur Zeit der Völkerwanderung flüchteten die Bewohner von Fulfinium in eine natürlich geschützte Siedlung auf einem 85 Meter hohen Felsen, wo das Leben noch heute fließt.
